Disney Dates ‘Ghost In The Shell’, Moves ‘Jungle Book’ Back 6 Months

Disney has announced release dates for a pair of its pics and a slot swap for two others. Ghost In The Shell, which last week landed Scarlett Johansson as its lead, will hit theaters April 14, 2017. The studio also set the 3D remake of its 1977 film Pete’s Dragon for August 12, 2016.

Meanwhile, Disney has pushed back the release of its Jon Favreau-helmed redo of The Jungle Book out of 2015. The pic will an all-star voice cast including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba and Johansson had been set for October 9 but now will open April 15, 2016. It trades dates with The Finest Hours, the Chris Pine-Casey Affleck-Eric Bana oil tanker rescue tale, which now will arrive October 9.
